The Good Shepherd mission has always been a shared mission.
In 17th-century France, Madeleine Lamy, one of our early collaborators and partners, saw the struggles of vulnerable women and girls and refused to look away. Her courage, compassion and determination helped inspire the founding of the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity and the creation of a refuge where women could find safety, healing and hope.
Centuries later, this legacy of collaboration continues. The Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd is enriched by apostolic sisters, contemplative sisters, and partners-in-mission, each expressing the call to mission in their own way. Together, we share responsibility for carrying forward the Good Shepherd charism and responding to the needs of our world.
Partners-in-mission bring their unique gifts, talents, and expertise to ministries, programs and leadership roles across the Congregation. Their contributions help ensure the mission remains vibrant, relevant and responsive to those most vulnerable.
Whether serving in ministry, advocacy, administration, education, or leadership, partners-in-mission are essential to the Good Shepherd mission. Together with the sisters, they continue a tradition of compassion, reconciliation, and hope rooted in a simple but powerful call to action: see the need and respond with love.
