Earth Day Evening Prayer
Hymn: Choose an appropriate hymn your community knows
Ant 1: “. . . See nature as a magnificent book in which God speaks to us and grants us a glimpse of his infinite beauty and goodness.” (LS #12)
It is good to sing praise to you; for you are gracious and merciful; to you our praise is due.
You, O God build up Jerusalem; you gather the outcasts of Israel. You heal the broken-hearted, and bind up their wounds.
You fix the number of the stars, and give to each its name.
You are great and almighty, your wisdom beyond all measure.
For you lift up the poor and downtrodden, you put oppression to rout.
We sing to you with thanksgiving; make melody upon the lyre!
You cover the heavens with clouds; you prepare rain for the earth, make mountains sprout with grass.
You provide beasts with their food, and the young ravens that cry.
You delight not in the strength of the horse, nor take pleasure in human indulgence;
But you delight in those who revere you, in those who hope in your love.
Glory… (Repeat Ant)
Response to next psalm prayer is the refrain: sing, chant or recite it.

Reading: It is in the Eucharist that all that has been created finds its greatest exaltation . . . In the Eucharist, fullness is already achieved; it is the living center of the universe, the overflowing core of love and of inexhaustible life . . . in the bread of the Eucharist, creation is projected towards divinization, towards the holy wedding feast, towards unification with the Creator himself. Thus, the Eucharist is also a source of light and motivation for our concerns for the environment, directing us to be stewards of all creation. Pope Francis
