Damiana Hamhyeeun joins us in St. Louis

Damiana Hamhyeeun is our newest international Sister. Damiana “Dami” came to St. Louis on February 8, 2016 to begin classes at English Language School (ELS) on the campus of University of Missouri St. Louis. She expects to be here for a year. Dami, as she is called in her Province of North East Asia, is a smiling, eager to learn student. Her Province consists of South Korea, China/Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau.

Before coming to the United States she was missioned on the island of Jeju, South Korea and worked in the Jeju Center, our Good Shepherd Women’s Emergency Hotline. The program provides 24 hour counseling and referral services for women in crisis.

When Damiana arrived in St. Louis she was thrilled to see Sr. Christopher Mullan, who had taught her English in Korea. Sr. Christopher is now helping Dami with her homework from ELS. Sr. Dami also knows Sr. Nora Pat O’Flannigan and was so happy to recently receive a letter from her. Hopefully, they can connect sometime during Damiana’s time in the U.S.

It is so refreshing to have this enthusiastic, smiling student with us at the Province Center. We learned quickly that Sr. Dami loves the snow.
